One of the reasons we want to get brown rice into our diet is because brown rice contains; among other things, the amino acid GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid. GABA is one of the things baseball players take from a needle to heal faster and weightlifters take to loose fat. The GABA contained in brown rice stimulates the production of human growth hormone in a natural and safe; yet, significant way.


Some of the other benefits from GABA are an improved sleep cycle, lower blood pressure, an improved immune system and it proportably inhibits the development of cancer cells, It assists the treatment of anxiety disorders because it is also an inhibitory neurotransmitter.


There is 10 times more of the amino acid in brown rice than in white rice and there is twice the amount of the amino acid in germinated or sprouted brown rice than in plain brown rice. When the brown rice is germinated in green tea the amount of the amino acid and other nutrients increases again and I suspect that when the green tea germinated brown rice is fermented in kombucha tea or water kefir the benefits will increase again


The taste of germinated brown rice is more enjoyable than plain brown rice, as the sugars held captive in the grains jacket are broken down and released. After eating germinated brown rice the feeling in the body is lighter than after eating plain brown rice.

The possiblity of dehydrating and fermenting the germinated brown rice add to the versatility and variety for the consumption of the germinated brown rice. Brown rice based granola and brown rice bread are some examples.


Germinated or sprouted brown rice would be a great way to help increase your metabolic balance and to lose weight. It would be a great thing to get into your regular diet. I bought a foot massager and I fill it up with hot water, I place brown rice in a plastic bag. I cover the brown rice with green tea to the point where it is about 2 inches about the brown rice. I put the plastic bag in the hot water of the foot massager and leave it in for 22 hours changing the tea 3 times to make sure the tea germinating the brown rice is clean and free from any bacteria I don't want.

You have probably heard it before; but, drink good water. Drink half your weight in ounces; so, if you weigh 200 pounds drink 100 ounces of water a day. This alone will be very beneficial for your well being and weight loss progress. It is no joke. Next; find a good source of omega 3's something like Deep North Sea Fish Oil, if you are vegetarian you can use Borage, Flax, or Hemp oil but find some and use them regularly. They are anti inflamatory and they will make your blood vessels more elastic, they will lower your blood pressure, ease the pain in your joints and make you happier; yeah, they are natural anti depressants without side effects except maybe shinny healthier hair and brighter eyes. So; drink water and get some omega 3's into your life and you are on your way already.


Now; this part is optional but be aware it exists. What is a yoga sattvic diet?....Well we all know about Yin and Yang and how we must mix those forces; well, this is nothing like that. Here there are 3 forces that influence your body in terms of the energy that food delivers to you.


One is a static force called Tamas and foods that are tamasic will lead to a duller, less refined, state of consciousness. Tamasic foods include meat, fish, eggs, onions, spring onions, leeks, mushrooms, garlic, hemp, alcohol, tobacco, opium, stale foods.


The next force is a stimulating force also called rajas. Rajasic food provoke mental restlessness, you may know and love them in the form of coffee, tea, colas, any energizer drinks, chocolate, hot spices, salt, vinegar and such.

Then there is the Sattvic force. That which is sattva uplifts and it is good to have a little uplift once in a while... and that can be all this diet if that is what you want... you don't have to sign anything; you can do all or part or none of this diet... just be aware that it exsits, there is no pressure, you don't have to do this or that or any of it. Do the best you can; anyway, something that is sattva is uplifting and leads to clarity and equanimity of mind while also being beneficial to the body. Things that are sattvic include water, fruit, cereal, bread, most vegetables, beans, nuts, grains, milk and milk derivatives (cheese, butter, kefir, cream, yogurt), honey. These food should be fresh and never recooked more than twice... realize the life force leaves the food in about 3 days. It is good to be involved with making the food and it is not a bad idea give someone or some form thanks for the fact that there is food at all.

Nothing is written in stone, if you want to eat beef, chicken, pork or fish do it; but, I suggest you not eat corporate factory produced foods and I suggest you use these foods as almost a seasoning using 2 ounces more or less to flavor your dish and not making them your main or center part of the meal; if you must eat these foods at all. You want a cup of coffee, have some coffee; but, remember to enjoy it and be conscious it is a rajasic food and it is stimulating you and hindering you progress somewhat. Consider this and be aware of it and of course be happy. This is a sattvic diet, I recommend it. You don't have to do it to the letter and you don't have to do it for the rest of your life; but, if you do do it you may notice that your mind will be calmer and you will have moved your mind to a different place just by eating in a different way. It will help you become more subtle mentally and that might be a good thing. I recommend it...

Using Kefir and Kombucha In Your diet Plan and Why

The milk kefir and the kombucha cultures have been around for hundreds of years, you should know about them, you should use them, they are miracles of nature, and they are gifts of benevolence. They can change your life, give you boundless health, help you lose weight and make you happy.


They can do this because they are metabolic balancers. They are powerful probiotics, detoxifiers, adaptogens, and cleansers. They are magical and with a little effort you can have them in your life and the life of your loved ones. This is not a pitch, these are facts don't ignore them. I offer them to you with love, I give you this valuable knowledge for free and I will stick by you and help you with your questions and concerns if you need me. To get these benefits you must make an effort and make milk kefir and kombucha at home. It would be great if you could buy them in the store; but, you can't. Profiteers know this and there are products offered commercially in your grocery store that say they are kefir and kombucha but they are not. Surprised? That corporate America can lie straight to your face about something like this? Welcome to the world. I will explain further in a minute


I will start by giving you the information about milk kefir because milk kefir is so powerful. It is the only way to change the bacterial content of your gut for the better. There are claims by drug companies or commercial profiteers that differ on this fact; but they are lying, they know it. That is why I always laugh when I hear that phrase "Speak truth to power" because power always already knows the truth, there is just so much more profit in their version. What they don't like is when you speak truth among your brethren, then you usually get disappeared or set up to be disgraced, that is why they invented the word "Spin".


Milk kefir is a miracle, it should not exist but it does. It is a symbiotic community of 30 or so bacterial strains and yeasts. This community forms a colony and lives in a matrix that we call a grain, the community of kefir strains made this grain for themselves. When this grain is put in milk the grain sends out its bacterial strains and yeasts in such a way as to transform the milk into a virtual probiotic soup. This living soup is rich in vitamins and capable of changing the balance of bacteria in the gut.


The product that is put out commercially is not made from a grain. If you look closely at its list of ingredients you will see; among other things, that the commercial product is made from 10 strains of kefir and has no yeasts at all plus they have additional ingredients never found in the pure form of kefir and some of these additional ingredients can effect you in a negative way.


These prebiotics will be feeding mostly the bacteria that are prevalent and if the prevalent bacteria are bad bacteria then the prebiotics of FOS and Inulin are feeding your bad bacterium which is what we certainly don't want. Another factor about these prebiotics is that as much as 30 percent of us are allergic to them as these prebiotics were never part of our natural food selection, they are found in nature in small amounts in garlic and some other vegetables I can't think of right now. Their introduction can cause gas, bloating, diarrhea and other uncomfortable digestive problems. Real kefir when introduced slowly will have no ill effects at all.Make your own kefir, start out by drinking about 2 ounces a day because this stuff is not innocuous there may be a kill off in your gut as real kefir is introduced. In a week if you have no bad reactions to the kefir have 2 ounces a day and so on and so forth. When you are able to you can drink as much kefir as you want or as little as you want but drink about at least 4 ounces a day... You can make milk kefir out of non fat milk. Try not to use ultra pasteurized; in fact the closer to the source the better. Try to get your own cow or yak. I mix my kefir with a blueberry juice and I just stir it with a spoon, because kefir is liquid like you will need no blender to mix it with other juices


The commercial profiteers have a problem with real kefir because real kefir is alive and growing. How could they put real kefir on a shelve for weeks when it is vibrantly growing and expanding? That is why there is no yeast in their product. They can't package it to sell like they are selling what they do, whatever that is, which is not real kefir; but, it is sold to the public as weapons of mass destruction or rather kefir, my mistake.



Let me tell you that there's a complex living system in your body that can determine the strength of your health. Inside your gut; inside your intestinal track, are trillions of bacteria, as much as 100 trillion bacteria, as much as three to five pounds or more of hundreds of different species of bacteria, fungus and also protozoa. They line your intestinal track which is also called your mucosal barrier. This mix of gut flora can protect you from disease or they can lead you to illness depending on their makeup, depending upon their balance.



When we eat improperly or when we are exposed to chemicals these bacteria get out of balance and the results can be very detrimental. Under normal proper balance this living system within us is important, as the normal process stimulates the lymphoid tissue in the gut to produce antibodies to fight pathogens; this is actually our immune system working smoothly. A healthy balance in the gut also helps in the production of hormones, enzymes and vitamins, it aids in healthy digestion. The strength of the good bacteria's presence alone, through competition for nutrients, keeps bad bacteria at bay for there is no where for the bad bacteria to go; however, when we eat too much sugar and too many of certain carbs, that negative segment of bacteria in the gut are empowered and that can lead to an imbalance by advancing those species; that can lead to their becoming capable of causing infection or increasing the risks for cancer. The colon wall can suffer and ulcers may begin from the imbalance; syndromes such as diarrhea, irritable bowel disease, Crohn's disease and other such terrible conditions can develop in severe cases.


Kefir can help avoid and reverse these problems by changing the balance of bacteria. The good yeast promoted by kefir can also penetrate the mucosal lining and replace bad yeast they can then continue to compete with bad yeasts for nourishment never giving them the chance to become prevalent again.



If you are still thinking about using the commercially produced kefir product put out by the Life-Way Company; which also makes it own competition, the product called Helios, let me remind you that kefir grown from a grain is a symbiotic community and that community can do things together that they can not do separately and the benefits derived from that fact are missing in these commercial products, remember the commercial product has no kefir yeast at all. The commercial product also contains FOS and Inulin (Inulin, not to be confused with insulin)



FOS is short for fructo-oligosaccharides. Inulin and FOS are both prebiotics that are not digested by the human body but they are digested by bacteria, both good and bad bacteria. The fact that they are digested by both good and bad bacteria is significant because if your balance of bad bacteria is out of whack and you have an out of balance flora percentage tilted toward the bad bacteria in your gut there can be real problems when the prebiotics are introduced.

Now; Kombucha..... the big difference with kombucha is you should only drink about 8 ounces of the stuff maybe twice a day and no more. You may be tempted to drink more because the stuff tastes good.


We are drinking kombucha because it is a metabolic balancer, a probiotic, an adaptogen and a detoxifier; now, we know what probiotics are and we know what a detoxifier is but what is an adaptogen?
